My name is Skylar Schmidt. I’m a senior at Brigham Young University pursuing a BA in Dance with a minor in Communications. With over 20 years of dance experience and a strong foundation in contemporary and modern styles, I bring both technical depth and creative vision to my work as a performer, choreographer, and teacher. I currently work at SMASH Dance Academy as a teacher and the Director of Marketing. I have been a member of BYU’s dancEnsemble, where I’ve served as both Vice President and President, and choreographed for three semesters. I’m passionate about the creative process and strive to cultivate a rehearsal environment rooted in exploration, collaboration, and kindness. I’m especially interested in freelance choreography and dance film, and love creating work that challenges both artists and audiences. I am passionate about the creative process and excited for new opportunities to expand my experience.
